Top 5 // Favourite Movie Musicals

Hi guys!

Today I thought I’d start a series of posts called ‘Top 5’ where I rank various things and give my opinion on them. I hope you enjoy! This series will range from Disney, Theatre, Musicals, Makeup, Youtube, TV, Movies and tonnes more so stay posted!

5. Dream Girls

This adaptation is amazing! The casting is on point with stars such as Beyonce, Jennifer Hudson and Eddie Murphy in the main cast. The storyline is so gripping and powerful and I love that style of music and the era in which its set. I’d even recommend it to non-musical lovers because most of the time it doesn’t feel like your watching a musical!

4. The Little Shop of Horrors

After years of interest and wanting to watch this musical, I was overjoyed to finally find a DVD copy in HMV a few years back! Its one of those musicals that I can watch and listen all the time and never get tired of it. Its so quirky and exciting and full of catchy songs. This will always be a classic to me!

3. The Wizard of Oz

An absolute legend when it comes to vintage hollywood movies. My dad bought me the DVD back when I was a little girl and I fell in love with everything Oz related! The characters and songs and set and everything about this film is timeless and incredible! I’m also a huge Judy Garland fan so this film will always hold a special place in my heart.

2. The Last Five Years

1.171988

I have been waiting forever to see this film and when they finally released it, I fell in love! I was a fan of the off broadway revival cast album and when I heard that one of my all time favourite Broadway actors, Jeremy Jordan, was to play the role of Jamie I was so excited! It can be quite confusing but the story is so gripping and sad. The songs are great and it was better than I imagined the adaptation was going to be!

1. The Sound of Music

I don’t usually choose favourites but this hands down is my favourite movie musical of all time. I’ve loved it ever since I was a little girl and have watched it countless times! Julie Andrews is my queen and I just love everything about this film! The soundtrack will be played at least once a day and this is probably the only film that I could watch that I would click ‘play’ as soon as its finished to watch it again because I will never ever get tired of it! I was lucky enough to see the musical live onstage which was amazing, I never thought I would be able to and it was incredible. Maria VonTrapp will always be one of my favourite characters of all time and someone I look up to.

Well, there you have it! I hope yo enjoyed this post! I obviously love loads more movie musicals but these five came to mind and I had to rave about them! I’d love to hear your thoughts and opinions!

See you soon.

Netflix Favourites

Net 2

Hi guys!

I thought this would be a great idea to share with you what I’m loving on Netflix at the moment. I will update this as and when I have discovered new shows / films. (I live in the UK so some of these might not be available in your country’s netflix)

TV Shows

1. Pretty Little Liars

If you have read my previous posts you will know I am a huge fan of this show!! I won’t go into the plot because knowing me I will give away spoilers but its so good. If you love gripping dramas but also teen chick flicks then this is the series for you. At the beginning it is like a stereotypical teen film but once the plot develops and takes twists and turns it goes to a whole new level! Totally gripping and definitely recommend it!

2. Gossip Girl

Another show I’m obsessed with! I love the fact its based on ‘Manhattan’s Elite’ so you get to see all the glitz and glamour amongst the drama. I like to take breaks in between watching this as I don’t think binge watching or even watching on a regular basis helps me stay gripped to the show. But once you return to it refreshed, you can’t leave your sofa!

3. The Office (US)

To be honest, I only started watching this because my favourite actor, John Krasinski was in it but now its my all time TV show. I wish there were more seasons of this because it broke my heart when it finished! Its filled with a variety of amazing characters and ongoing story lines and you’re never disappointed once an episode has finished. Now I have completed the entire series I like to go back and watch some of my favourite episodes when there is nothing to watch. If you like comedies totally check this out!

Films

1. 10 Things I Hate About You

I know this is a classic but I hadn’t watched it until I was injured with nothing to do and decided to give it a go. It is now one of my all time favourite films! Its also based off my favourite Shakespeare play The Taming of the Shrew but it brings this 90’s twist to it. Its funny, adorable and I could watch it on repeat! Also, Heath Ledger & Joseph Gordon-Levitt….. what more could a girl ask for!?!?

2. Walking on Sunshine

Okay, this film has an acquired taste. Being a huge musical fan and seeing this available to watch on netflix had me obliged to watch it. However, it is the cheesiest thing you’ll ever watch. When I first saw it, I didn’t know if I should carry on but I did and really really enjoyed it! So much that I have watched it multiple times! Its the cheesiest, cutest chick flick perfect for girly nights in or if you want a sing song! Its filled with 80’s classics.

3. Clueless

clueless-1995

Okay this is kind of a classic, the main reason I’m including this is because if you love chick flicks and haven’t seen this then what are you doing? Drop everything and watch it…. NOW. Its definitely one of my all time favourite movies and I had to stream it on netflix even though I have the DVD. Its a great throwback to the 90’s and is one of the greatest things you’ll ever see. For me it even tops mean girls!

I hope you enjoyed this post and let me know your netflix favourites!

The Disney Tag

Hi guys!

Sorry I haven’t posted in a while, I’ve had writers block if I’m quite honest!

I was a bit hesitant on making this post as I wasn’t sure that my followers would enjoy it but considering the response I received on my previous Disney – related post, I thought I should just go for it. Don’t worry though, I will be posting a book review shortly!

1. Name a scene in any Disney movie you wish you could experience.

Definitely flying to Neverland with Peter Pan (despite my fear of heights!) and probably the lantern scene from Tangled because its just so cute!

2. Name an unforgettable experience/moment you’ve had at the parks.

Probably from the last time I went to Disney when we decided to go on Big Thunder Mountain at like 8pm so it was dark and it was amazing. We just walked on the ride and it seemed so much faster!

3. What non Disney song(s) reminds you / brings back memories of Disney and / or the parks.

Probably Fly With Me by the Jonas Brothers merely because they mention Peter Pan and Wendy!

4. When was the first time you went to a Disney Park?

For my 10th birthday which was March 2006. I’ve been 4 times altogether.

5. If you could choose any Disney character to be your best friend, who would you choose?

Belle, Flounder, Stitch or Peter Pan.

6. Who are your favourite Disney Princesses?

Belle is my number one but Ariel, Tiana and Pocahontas are close seconds!

7. Name a scene / moment in any Disney movie which never fails to make you cry.

Literally all of The Hunchback of Notre Dame and the Feed the Birds scene in Mary Poppins because that song is just too emotional!

8. What was the fist Disney movie you remember seeing?

I can’t remember the first ever Disney movie I saw but I remember either The Tigger Movie or Tarzan being the first Disney movie I saw at the cinema.

9. What is your favourite Disney movie?

My list changes all the time! At the moment its The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Pocahontas, Beauty and the Beast and Saving Mr Banks.

14. Gaston or Hans definitely!

11. What is your least favourite Disney movie?

Probably Cars, I just didn’t enjoy it.

12. What is your favourite Disney song.

I couldn’t possibly tell you because it changes literally every second.

13. What character(s) has your personality or has your dream personality?

I’d say Flounder is definitely a good representation of me as I am a guppy hahah!

14. If you could change any scene in a Disney movie, what would it be and why?

Probably the scene where the Beast dies because its too emotional!

15. If you had to get stuck on any ride in any Disney park for more than 30 minutes, what would it be and why?

Probably Pirates of the Caribbean because its one of my favourite rides and I never want it to end!

Well, that concludes this post! Hope you enjoyed reading it and please comment with your answers / opinions! I’d love to read them 😀
