Top 5 // Favourite Disney Songs (Take 10 Edition)

Walt-Disney-Records

Today is the long awaited return of the ‘Top 5’ series! But, this time with a twist….. a top 10!

Yes I thought this decision was so tough that I just had to expand my decision to 10 Disney songs. So without further ado, here we go!

10. Friend Like Me – Aladdin

tumblr_n0y7ldl5pj1s0h0fgo2_r2_500

This song is at number 10 because to me its such an uplifting and theatrical tune! You just want to dance along and act like the genie!! Definitely a show-stopping number in Aladdin!

9. Something There – Beauty and the Beast

belle-beauty-and-the-beast

Sung by my favourite princess! I love something there because it shows the foundations of Belle’s love for the Beast which is truly special and this song is just adorable! I also love singing Belles part!

8. So This is Love – Cinderella

I think this is the most romantic song in the whole of Disney. It just has this vintage Hollywood vibe with stunning voices. It makes you dream about being swept off your feet by a Prince!

7. I See The Light – Tangled

An absolutely gorgeous song! So mellow, meaningful and easy listening! Again, shows the foundation of Flynn and Rapunzel’s relationship which is adorable!

6. Just Around The River Bend – Pocahontas

Whenever this song pops up on my iPod I just have to play it! Such an exhilarating song with meaningful lyrics that make you think and can interpret in your own life! Also, Im obsessed with Judy Kuhn’s voice.

5. Stay Awake – Mary Poppins

Julie Andrews had to make an appearance at some point! Probably an unpopular choice from the Mary Poppins soundtrack but I love this song. Along with Julie’s incredibly soothing voice, this song is pure bliss! The lyrics and melody are so relaxing and this song never fails to relax me or send me to sleep!

4. The Second Star To the Right – Peter Pan

Being a huge Peter Pan fan, the opening credits to the film gives me butterflies! Such a beautiful melody, it sets the scene and sets the overall feel of the movie which I love when listening to it!

3. God Help The Outcasts – The Hunch Back of Notre Dame

tumblr_m4yblaIsjp1rwsdbro1_400

This song really really moves me! Im not sure if its because of the religious imagery featured in the film or whether I kind of relate to the song but I just love singing it and listening to it and just being absorbed in the beauty of this song!

2. Santa Fe – Newsies

This tune! It is packed with emotion and drive and is incredible! Such a power ballad that deserves tonnes more recognition that it has.

1. Out There – Hunch Back of Notre Dame

tumblr_inline_mkwgm9qJtC1qz4rgp

I found y love of this song through the night time show in Disneyland Paris Disney Dreams where Quazimodo is singing this song climbing on the Disneyland castle with the stain glass windows in the background. I think what made it even more powerful for me was that because it was in French. Im not sure why, maybe because we all know this is how the song should be sung if the movie is accurate to the story? This is such an epic song and brings a tear to my eye every time I hear it!

I hope you enjoyed reading this! I’d love to know your top 10!

My Music Taste

Hi guys!

Fiirst of all I want to thank you all for the wonderful welcome to the blogasphere I received yesterday! All the lovely comments, likes and follows truly made my day and have encouraged me to keep at this business! I never thought my posts would receive so much love this early in the process so thank you all so much!

Now, down to business!

I am quite well known for having quite a broad music taste. My spotify is just a jumble of various artists and genres which I love and listen to regularly.

Disney

If you haven’t already guessed, I am a HUGE Disney fan. Ever since I was a little girl, I would listen to my Disney soundtracks 24/7. Listening back to songs such as the opening title to a childhood favourite, ‘The Little Mermaid’ takes me back to my 4 year old self and fills me with nostalgia!

I also love the new Disney soundtracks such as ‘Tangled’, ‘The Princess and The Frog’ and of course, ‘Frozen’. I just think Disney music is so powerful, catchy and universal.

If you would like to take a trip down memory line or just want to jam out to Disney then I have created a spotify playlist of my Favourite Disney tunes.

Broadway

Musicals pretty much dominate my life. I love going to London to the West End, reading about Broadway, singing, acting, dancing….. just anything theatre related really!

My wall is covered in theatre flyers and posters, I collect programmes and tickets…. basically my life revolves around musicals!

I love how diverse Broadway soundtracks are and how they range from the classic, timeless works of Roger and Hammerstein (‘The Sound of Music’, ‘South Pacific’) to the more modern, upbeat works of Jonathan Larson (‘Rent) and of course, we cannot forget the legend that is Mr Andrew Lloyd Webber!

I have also put together a playlist of my favourite Broadway songs (I was going to try and go through my iTunes and add all my favourites from every single soundtrack I have but that would take a decade! So here are just a few that come to mind).

Motown / Soul

This genre maybe quite unusual for a person of my age to enjoy. I do have to blame my local pantomime for this (yes I know it sounds cheesy!). I just love the way it sounds and most of the songs are so catchy! I love artists such as Aretha Franklin, Jackson 5, The Four Tops, The Supremes, Stevie Wonder, Sam Cooke and Otis Reading.

Here is a playlist on spotify made up of some of the classics (many of my favourites are on there) if you want to check it out! Soul Classics of the 1960s

Other (Up to Date Music)

I do like to listen to music released by current artists too! Although I don’t listen to them as much as the other genres! I tend to get to know these songs from going out to clubs and on the radio. Although I adore Beyonce, Ariana Grande and Demi Lovato too!

I also love an acapella band (mainly based on youtube) and recently grammy award winning Pentatonix. They’re arrangements are so clever and I have saw them live and met them and they are incredible! Totally talented and deserve all the success in the world so you should have a listen!

Here are my other favourite songs!

I hope you enjoyed this post and hopefully found some new songs you might like! I thought I’d post something a little bit different to broaden the themes of my posts.

Thanks for reading and have a great day!
